John Littlejohn was born April 10th, 1822, in Berkley county, Virginia. His father, Abraham Littlejohn, was born in Virginia in 1792. He married Sarah Shafer. His vocation was that of a farmer. He served in the war of 1812. In 1822 moved to Ohio; in 1838 came to this county. He died in 1852. His wife, the mother of the subject of this sketch, is still living. John, at the age of twenty-five, married Margaret Barclay, and then purchased a farm, where he has since resided. In 1850 he made an overland trip to California, remaining there over a year. He has a fine farm.
